Angelika H. Hofmann, Ph.D. Angelika Hofmann is the founder and senior scientific editor of SciWri. Angie is a grant writer and scientific editor at Yale University and also teaches Scientific Writing courses. She has extensive experience editing grant proposals, research papers, and other scientific documents since 1994. She edited and helped compose some of the recent Nobel Prize papers in Chemistry. Her latest book is entitled “Scientific Writing and Communication: Papers, Proposals, and Presentations” (Oxford, December 2009). Angie is renowned in the scientific writing field and has been an invited speaker at various institutions. She received her Bachelors degree in Biology and in Chemistry as well as her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine. Her studies were followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Germany. |

Betty P. Liu, Ph.D. Betty Liu is currently a Senior Program Officer at the W. M. Keck Foundation in Los Angeles, CA. She reviews biomedical grant applications and assesses the progress of funded projects in the Foundation’s Medical Research program. She also works with external scientific experts to evaluate the impact of past Foundation grantmaking. Prior to joining the Foundation, Betty edited grants and authored white papers that garnered private philanthropic support for biomedical research projects at the Yale School of Medicine as well as community-based organizations. Betty received her Ph.D. in Cell Biology with special emphasis on cancer biology in 2000 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She completed her post-doctoral training in neuroscience in the Neurology Department at Yale University. |
